I have been with this excellent martial arts school for almost six years.  I would just like to thank everybody at this school for helping me along the way to becoming a black belt.  It means a great deal to me that you have been extremely supportive and I would like to deeply thank you for all of your help.  I look forward to continue working with you all on the exciting road to receiving my black belt.  I especially appreciate the personal attention and instruction I often receive at classes, so that I am able to learn and achieve my goals as a student at your school.  Once again, I wish to thank you for all of your generous help and support.

Sincerely,

Kevin Andrews

I want to spotlight a few real people and real Masters of Tang Soo Do.  There wont be a lot.  I have to begin this section with one man. A man of integrity; humble, and wise, A man of respect. A man who deserves the title Master and not just because I brought him to this rank.

Master Duane Pitcher of World Class Institute of Martial Arts in Livonia, Michigan.

Master Duane pitcher is a quiet man and soft spoken. But deep inside he is a warrior. The man is like a sponge and absorbs knowledge - all he can get a hold of.  He has a deep love for people and for the Martial Arts.  His heart is in all the right places.  Many open schools but are not teachers.  He is a teacher.  Watching him, you can tell he is one of the best there is.  His forms are a thing of beauty and perfection.  His skill is second to none.

He reminds me of the story of the eagle. F or no matter what obstacle may enter in his path he stands strong and rises above the storm.  He is my friend and my brother in Martial Arts and I love him and his family dearly.  Master Duane Pitcher a man among men.  He is a teachers teacher.

Master Pitcher:

I forgot to tell you today that my son received all good behavior grades on his report card for the first time ever.  Karate is really helping him focus and concentrate.  Thank you!

Dear Valerie, Duane & Stephanie,

I want to thank all of you for making last night’s viewing of The Karate Kid possible for Kids Kicking Cancer-the kids and families loved it!

Many of our kids spend long hours in the hospital & clinics, so the movie provided a much needed family outing and a break from medical treatments.  They were especially excited to see The Karate Kid since they all practice karate in our Kids Kicking Cancer program.  I talked to some parents and their kids were still smiling this morning!

When we heard The Karate Kid was coming out we thought it would be a perfect outing for our kids-little did we know it would happen so quickly!

We truly appreciate your generosity and kindness-you all made a lot of kids very happy last night!

Thank you once again!

Kyo Sa Watson: (regarding their experience at a recent open tournament)

Devin earned first place in forms.  They commented that his form was very clean and crisp.  It's the best I've seen him do.  Devin earned first place in breaking boards.

Paula won first place in forms.  The judge called her "a ball of fire."  She wore a great warrior face, again, better than I have ever seen.  Paula earned first place in breaking boards.

Both Devin and Paula exhibited great confidence and determination to do well.  They exhibited this even before they started their forms; I told them that they had probably impressed the judges even before they started their respective forms.  You could tell who didn't care, who wasn't confident, who got frustrated, etc. right from the start.

I sincerely want to thank you and Master Pitcher for being such excellent teachers for Devin and Paula.  Carl and I feel you both deserve a portion of their awards!!  You taught them what excellence is, and they absorbed what you taught them.  Thank you so much.

To Master Duane Pitcher & Company:

During a visit to my family in August, 2006, I learned that my Grandson, Dane, was very enthusiastic about his Tang Soo Do training.  We attended several lessons including young Dane's promotion from Green to Red Belt Status.

I was totally impressed with the caliber of training that I saw.  Young Dane and I talked about his commitment to moving on to earn his Black Belt, and I was able to contribute financially to this portion of the program.

It was one of my better investments, for I have seen young Dane grow mentally and physically through the Tang Soo Do program.

bulletHis schoolwork and attitude have greatly improved; the report card comments from his teachers compliment him on his focus, attitude, manners, and leadership.  I can only assume that his Tang Soo Do training has had much of the positive influence on his progress.
bulletPhysically, young Dane has gained strength, coordination, and confidence.

From one proud "Grandpa", you are to be complimented on the high degree of professionalism of your organization and program.

Keep up the excellent work!

Regards,

Tod Morrow (Grandfather of young Dane)

I recently just met Kyo Sa Watson and Kyo Sa Pitcher who run their school World Class Institute of Martial Arts In Livonia, MI.

This is a story I have to tell my friends in Michigan and across the United States who visit this discussion forum, as well as the members of my Tang Soo Do Martial Arts Society in the US and abroad. Please take the time to read this post. There's something very special going on in this Dojang.

Over the years I have been invited to and visited many other schools. I had met a couple of Kyo Sa Watson and Kyo Sa Pitcher's students at local tournaments and at my own tournament, as I have many students over the years. I have spoken with the owners of this school via phone and e mail, as I have done with many members of the Tang Soo Do family. When My school recently closed for repairs and remodeling these fine people offered me the use of their second training floor so my own students would not have to go without training until repairs were completed. And of course this was a fine gesture of friendship. Sadly my school is downriver about an hours drive, And my students just haven't been making the trip.

One of my Dans, Mr. Shafer, along with my wife and Myself (well tonight my son Christopher) also attended, and my friends I have to tell you!, I have for a few days worked with some of their black belts and students.  Please understand, Kyo Sa's Watson and Pitcher are not my students.  I have never said this about anyone who was not my student or a member of my Tang Soo Do Martial Arts Society before But I Must say this now to them...I am proud of you both!

Folks something special is taking place at this dojang! It's in the air at this school! It's in the eyes of the proud parents who attend to watch these classes. Working these past few days I see it in their students! They're loyal and they are committed!

We teachers of Martial Arts often reflect on our students and only hope we have somehow, someway touched their lives and made a difference. Kyo Sa Watson and Kyo Sa Pitcher YOU have done just this! The spirit of Tang Soo Do and brotherhood is alive and well in this dojang. Our students are a reflection on us the teachers....Oh yes something special is going on in this dojang....it's a family! Your students are fortunate to have you both as their teachers! And they Know it!

I can visit and share with them Tang Soo Do, but No matter what the rank, I cannot teach them...They have their teachers....it shows in the way they conduct themselves, in their hyungs, and mostly in their hearts.....

Kyo Sa Watson and Kyo Sa Pitcher...
I am proud of you!

To the both of you I humbly Bow
Thank you, you both are making a difference.
Grand Master Zacker

Grand Master Zacker,

Your words do not do justice to the dojang, the students and the teachers. From the moment I entered the Dojang that special feeling of "Family" was felt. As a student, one inspires to be like their teacher.  From what I have seen of the World Class Institute of Martial Arts students (dedication, respect, honor and integrity) there is a new breed of Martial Artists up and coming that I am proud to be aligned with.

Subject: 110% Effort

Kyo Sa Nim Duane Pitcher,

Hello, I hope this message finds you well and in good spirits! I currently make my living as a writer and was inspired today to find a working definition for "effort" as you expect it to be applied in the Do Jung.  I hope that you find it both useful and enjoyable. The original word document is attached.

Have a great weekend,
Daniel Ferrera
